Who we are

Our foundation was established in 2025.

The St. Ladislaus Cemetery and Chapel, nestled in Alsópélpuszta, Sárszentlőrinc, remains a cherished part of our shared heritage. Built in 1826 by Countess Mária Széchényi, wife of Count László Zichy, as the chapel of the former Alsópélpuszta manor, it is now under the care of the local municipality. As descendants of the original family, our foundation is dedicated to preserving this historic chapel and cemetery in a sustainable, living condition for generations to come. We are equally committed to honouring the memory, achievements, and spiritual legacy of our ancestors who once called this place home — ensuring that their story continues to inspire all who follow.

Our Foundation's Mission and Activities

At the heart of our foundation lies a deep commitment to preserving the treasures of our past while building a vibrant future for generations to come.
Our activities include:

• Preservation of Historical Monuments: We are dedicated to maintaining and protecting the Saint Ladislaus Cemetery and Chapel, located within the municipally owned grounds of Sárszentlőrinc (land registry number 0311). We also provide ongoing support to ensure their sustainable operation.

• Creating Community Spaces: We are developing and nurturing community areas around the chapel and cemetery, preserving the ancient trees — like the majestic linden tree standing proudly before the chapel — that are part of our shared heritage.

• Upholding Christian Values: We are committed to promoting Christian spirit and faithfulness to Church traditions in all our initiatives.

• Carrying Forward Our Cultural Heritage: We honour and share the rich legacy of the Péli descendants, researching their traditions, achievements, and intellectual heritage to protect, celebrate, and pass them on.

• Building Stronger Communities: We foster meaningful connections between the descendants of the Zichy family, who built the chapel, and the local residents. We also proudly support local and family-run businesses to strengthen the fabric of our community.

• Supporting Shared Visions: We collaborate with and support other organisations that work to enhance the intellectual and social well-being of the people of Alsópélpuszta and the Zichy descendants, in alignment with our foundation's mission.

• Boosting Local Tourism: We aim to make the chapel a vibrant centre of community life by promoting its use and organising cultural, historical, and sporting events.

• Forging Connections Beyond Borders: We build and nurture partnerships with like-minded organisations both in Hungary and abroad to expand the reach and impact of our mission.

Together, we preserve the spirit of our ancestors and inspire a brighter future.
